MTI Film
Innovative Post-Production Technology & Services
MTI Film has a long history of providing innovative solutions to the Post-Production industry, beginning in 1997 with the introduction of Correct DRS - the trail blazing original digital restoration system. Since that time, Correct DRS has become the industry standard for retouching, remastering, dustbusting and restoration.
In 2002, Correct DRS made the leap from an SGI platform to Windows PC. Since that time, MTI Film has released 9 major versions including the addition of AlphaFilter, Dewarp and, in 2009 the revolutionary 3 Layer Registration tool. During the past decade, Correct DRS has grown from a stand-alone platform typically used on material captured from SD tape into an integral part of any forward-looking Post house's data-centric 2k or 4k workflow.
In 2004 MTI Film introduced Control Dailies, a revolutionary, concurrent workflow for facilitating motion picture & television dailies. Between smart technology and a simple interface, facilities using the core Control Dailies application on film-based projects realized a 2x increase in the nightly throughput of their telecines.
Beginning in 2008, MTI Film introduced a sister application Convey, which allows for automated creation of dailies deliverables on DVD, Blu-ray and in DNxHD, ProRes, Windows Media, QuickTime/H.264 and DPX file formats. With the introduction in 2009 of a Digital Acquisition and Color Correction module, Control Dailies is now used on projects filmed on popular digital cameras such as Panasonic P2, RED One, ARRI D-21 and Genesis.
In 2005, MTI Film expanded from its World Headquarters in Providence to open a West Coast office on Vine St in the heart of Hollywood. Later that year, industry veteran Larry Chernoff took the reigns as CEO and began growing the LA office from a simple sales outpost into a major nerve center of MTI Film's operations.
In 2007, MTI Film began to take on small restoration projects to service in house as part of the R&D into the cutting-edge version 7 release of Correct DRS. Since that time, Restoration Services at MTI has grown beyond a mere research and test bed to deliver quality results for many high-profile projects.
2010 is poised to be an exciting and transformative year for MTI Film. The Hollywood office is moving to Sycamore Avenue and expanding to include additional Post-Production services for television.
