Control Dailies

Turn-key Solution for Full-Featured Dailies Processing

Control Dailies is the only complete solution for digital and film dailies processing.  Our turn-key system handles every step from hand-off to delivery.  Our complete feature set means that there's never a need to trade off power for usability, camera support for output format support, or any stakeholder's needs for those of another.

Full Featured

Whether a project is shot on film, video, or data, Control Dailies provides a complete workflow that encompasses all facets of the dailies process.  Control Dailies fully integrates all steps in the dailies process - project data management, image ingest, audio ingest, audio-image synchronization, primary color correction, deliverables configuration, tape layoff and digital file output.

Increased Efficiency

Control Dailies increases the throughput and ROI of the equipment a facility has already invested in thanks to innovative technical architecture and a simple, intuitive interface.  Efficiency starts at ingest - with faster than real time telecine transfer and real time or faster ingest from tape deck or decode from digital files.  File-based audio ingest is near instantaneous.

But it doesn't stop there.  With Control Dailies' concurrent architecture, the assistant can begin logging metadata and synchronizing takes right away.  As soon as a few takes have been approved, the Colorist can begin work.  Using preset burn window templates, slate templates and layoff configurations, Control Dailies will automatically begin the background tasks of laying off to tape or encoding digital deliverables as soon as a take has been approved.  Thanks to the simultaneous work of the Colorist, assistant and Control Dailies automated output, a single dailies session can be completed in half the time.

Control Dailies goes a step further, improving upon the massive throughput increases realized through concurrency.  Intuitive, non-linear tools such as Smart Mark for quickly synchronizing the clap and still stores and saved memory for quick application of color decisions across multiple takes or similar shots allow users to complete each take in seconds.

When it comes to output, Control Dailies not only speeds up the actual creation of deliverables, by encoding and laying off automatically, in the background throughout the dailies session, but increases speed and efficiency in downstream products as well.  Working closely with our partners, including Avid and PIX Systems, MTI Film has worked to ensure full compatibility to remove engineering headaches and time-wasting intermediate steps.  ALE, LUT and ASC CDL export further remove the need for duplicated effort.

No Compromises

With the explosion in popularity of digital cameras, many vendors and facilities have scrambled to find a way to process dailies from these new formats.  Unfortunately, most solutions require some kind of trade-off - to get the files decoded on time the process gets married to a single input or output format or requires a massive render farm.  Control Dailies throws out all these constraints to enable ingest from any format and output to multiple deliverables in a single session - including tapes or DNxHD for Editorial, DVD and Blu-ray for on-set or executive review, and QuickTime or Windows Media 9 for delivery via commercial or proprietary online dailies review systems.

Any Way You Want It

Completing dailies on time is crucial, but ensuring deliverables fit the needs of their recipients is just as important. Control Dailies slate and burn window templates offer extensive burn-in options and make sure they are consistently generated each night.  Layoff configurations ensure only the appropriate burn-ins, color correction and other elements are included in each deliverable. DVDs and Blu-ray discs include multiple user-selected sort orders, custom branding and individual recipient burn-ins.  DNxHD files are available in all bitrates to fit Editorial requirements and are ready to edit immediately.  QuickTime files are pre-parsed for use in PIX Systems online dailies review tool.  Regardless of the format or the audience, Control Dailies can deliver exactly what's needed.
