CONCURRENT WORKFLOW FOR DAILIES
Whether a project is shot on film, video, or data, CONTROL DAILIES provides a complete workflow that encompasses all facets of the dailies process.
CONTROL DAILIES facilitates faster than real time transfer from film or 2k DPX files to HD and SD, automatic synchronization of audio, and output to either tape or file based deliverables. CONTROL dailies is a concurrent workflow that optimizes your telecine investment and frees colorists from time consuming clerical duties, allowing them to do what they do best: COLOR.
FEATURES
- 2K or Video Dailies… Faster than real time
- Delivers HD, SD tapes to editorial – Outputs three simultaneous, asynchronous video streams, each with different Layoff Configurations including VANC and VITC
- Sub-frame accurate synchronization of audio to picture
- Complete metadata collection and editorial file generation such as ALE and Flex
- Editorial Tools for post synching of audio
- Import ALE or Flex files for rescan
CONCURRENT PROCESS
To streamline workflow, CONTROL Dailies allows all logging, ingest, and output to be handled through a common database
accessible simultaneously to all workstations. Any operator can create or update log entries.
Film dailies can be ingested in two modes: Select Takes or Full Reel. For film transferred in Select Takes mode, audio and
picture are automatically synchronized based on operator identified sync points logged in the database. For Full Reel film transfers, the CONTROL Dailies-QA module provides a
One-Click editorial tool to post synchronize audio to picture.

INNOVATION
CONVEY is a sister application to CONTROL Dailies that automates the creation of popular file based
formats for Dailies deliverables.
CONVEY shares Project Management, Database, and Scanlist parameters
found in CONTROL Dailies facilitating a seamless integration of the two applications. The power of the
CONTROL Dailies concurrent workflow is enhanced by its direct interaction with CONVEY.
As events are approved in CONTROL Dailies, CONVEY is encoding data into multiple file formats. Codecs such as
MPEG 2, DNxHD, WM9, MPEG 4, QuickTime and AVI can be simultaneously created with user defined bit rates, aspect
ratios, window burns and audio mixes.
Slate and Burn Templates and Layoff Configurations created in CONTROL Dailies are available for use in CONVEY
or, if desired, can be created within CONVEY. As part of CONVEY’s Project Management all templates and configurations are recalled automatically eliminating
redundant input and setup. DVD Menu Templates are also created in CONVEY and stored as an asset of the project for recall during automated DVD authoring.
FLEXIBILITY
CONTROL Dailies allows users to define a Layoff Configuration that includes:
Slate Templates- Create slate templates that reflect project metadata
such as project name, title, production number, shoot date, transfer date, reel number, scene, take, etc. that are automatically recalled during Layoff.
Burn Window Templates- Insert user configurable Burn-Ins for KeyKode,
record and audio timecodes into either the HD or SD output streams.
Size, color, font, background, opacity, and cue timing parameters can be user defined per metadata field for slates and burn windows.
Layoff Configurations- Create tape layoff configurations with user definable parameters including video standard, aspect ratio, audio mix,
Auto-Striping - Automatically stripe up to three videotapes with Black, Bars/Tone, and Slate prior to picture start with user defined timing and timecode parameters – and contextual slate and burn window template insertions.
Telecine EDLs - Generate industry standard ALE or Flex files to track
metadata for nonlinear editorial.
