« Control Dailies in the Community »

At two recent industry events – REDucation Community Day and DGA Digital Day – MTI Film had the opportunity to reach out and educate a wider group in our community about Control Dailies - a powerful turn-key software/hardware system for increasing the efficiency and quality of facilities' film & digital camera dailies.

The inaugural REDucation Community Day was well attended by REDucation students and industry veterans alike. This allowed MTI to introduce Control Dailies to the up-and-coming generation of filmmakers and post production workers and to offer another look to the experts who may not be aware of the major advances in the Control Dailies family of products over the past year. “Control Dailies DA is built on the foundation of Control Dailies for film, but in many ways is an entirely new product that addresses an entirely new problem.” observes Director of Worldwide Sales, Belinda S. Merritt, “The challenges we are all facing as an industry as we learn to work with digital file and digital tape format cameras are a whole new ballgame.” Of particular interest to the RED community are the new real time or faster ingest of RED files via the DA Head, integrated primary color correction with Control Color, and the freedom of choice for simultaneous output to SD DVD, Blu-ray, DNxHD, MPEG-4 and other popular formats.

At DGA Digital Day, filmmakers had the chance to peek under the covers of what really happens between the end of the shooting day and when they receive review copies of the dailies the next morning. The spotlight was shared equally by Control Dailies for film and Control Dailies for Digital Acquisition, with many filmmakers excited to learn that they already do their dailies processing at a Control Dailies facility. Digital Day attendees were impressed by the many options to customize their copy of the dailies with everything from the output medium to the included take list to the burn-in data and security watermarks and to keep these choices consistent from day-to-day using Control Dailies' project templates.
