Referred to as MTI’s “Dailies in a Box”, the system includes all Control Dailies modules including the DA Head for decoding all digital cameras to date, Control Color - MTI’s ASC compliant color corrector that also includes CDL/LUT capabilities, and Convey for encoding popular files for editing and screening deliverables. Leveraging MTI’s concurrent workflow, which has been time tested and field proven for 8 years in hundreds of motion pictures and television productions, Remote Control Dailies provides concurrency for Ingest, Audio/Picture Synchronization, Color, and Output as well as LTO5 archiving.

Film & Video: Q&A: David McClure on MTI Film's Control Dailies

It's been a busy year for MTI Film. The company has started a services business in Hollywood, creating an all-digital workflow for television, film, and commercial post. TNT's Rizzoli and Isles and CBS's The Defenders are both using MTI's new facility to manage shows that are acquired using a range of camera systems including RED, ARRI, Phantom, and HDSLR cameras. The facility is also being used as a test bed for technology that will be incorporated into MTI's Control Dailies system, which the company was demonstrating in a suite at NAB. “We've accelerated the process of delivering new software updates through that facility,” MTI VP David McClure told Film & Video at the show.

Larry Chernoff to Address Digital Acquisition Challenges at HPA/SCRG Event

MTI Film's CEO Larry Chernoff will be part of a panel of speakers at the HPA/SCRG Meeting on February 2, addressing the challenges and victories that come with the rise of Digital Acquisition. The panel - Digital Acquisition: The Good the Bad and the Ugly - will also feature Michael Cioni, Garrett Smith and moderator Phil Squyers answering such questions as "When does Post actually start? What has changed in the past year? and what lies ahead?" Chernoff's long history in the Post industry, including his current tenure building and implementing the cutting-edge workflow used at MTI Film will be sure to add a unique and knowledgeable perspective to the discussion.

The question that I’m asked most these days is, “why the %&*# are you getting back into the business”? My response simply is this, “I never left it”. In fact, seven years ago I joined a company comprised of brilliant mathematicians and software developers with the objective of changing an important aspect of our business and discovering new, data-centric methods of finishing high quality TV dramas. MTI became a new vehicle to satisfy an old passion, and having found a group of likeminded “obsessors”, I began a journey that would ultimately lead back to a familiar road as well as on to others not yet traveled.
